Working Principle

Slurry Feeding
The slurry (a mixture of water and solid particles) is introduced into the thickener tank, typically at the center.

Settling Process
Inside the tank, the solid particles begin to settle due to gravity. The heavier particles settle at the bottom, forming a sludge layer, while the lighter, clearer liquid remains at the top.

Sludge Removal
The settled solids, or thickened slurry, are collected from the bottom of the tank. This sludge can be further processed or disposed of.

Overflow Discharge
The clear liquid (overflow) is drawn off from the top of the tank and can be recycled or reused in the process, reducing water waste.

Control and Adjustment
The process is controlled by adjusting the feed rate and the flocculant (chemical additives) to help improve solid particle aggregation and settling.
