Slurry Feeding
The slurry (a mixture of water and solid particles) is introduced into the thickener tank, typically at the center.

Pulsating Water Flow
Water is pumped into the jig in pulses, creating a vertical flow. The pulsating action moves the material up and down, allowing heavier particles to settle at the bottom while lighter particles move to the top.

Separation of Dense and Light Materials
The denser particles, such as gold, tin, or diamonds, sink and accumulate in the bottom of the jig, while the lighter gangue material (waste) moves upward.

Layering Effect
As the pulses continue, a layering effect is formed, where the denser particles are concentrated in distinct layers for easy removal.

Discharge and Collection
The separated heavier particles (concentrate) are collected from the bottom of the jig, while the lighter waste material is removed from the top, completing the separation process.
